By: David Caban Positioning Your Chiminea or Outdoor Fire PitFirst and foremost: A chimenias or outdoor fire pit is for OUTDOOR USE ONLY. Keep your chiminea or outdoor fire pit out of any gazebo or enclosed porch, and at least 20 feet away from any buildings. Position the fireplace so that there is nothing above it that could catch fire. Specifically, be sure there are no patio umbrellas, branches, or above-ground electrical service lines over the top of your fire pit. Be sure to place your fire pit on level ground and on the metal stand that comes with the unit. Do NOT place it on an unprotected deck or other flammable surface, including any extremely dry grass. Remember, you’re dealing with fire, so every precaution is necessary. Safe surfaces for your chiminea and fire pit include any concrete, slate, rock, brick or patio pavers. Placing your fireplace on a gravel surface is also acceptable. Remember that a chiminea fire pit is very heavy, especially if it is made of cast iron. Choose the location carefully so that you don’t have to keep repositioning your fireplace. When you do decide to move your Mexican fireplace, get others to help in order to alleviate the burden on your muscles and back! In contrast to a chiminea, an outdoor fire pit is usually extremely lightweight
and portable, so repositioning is rather effortless. All you need to do
is roll or carry your fire pit to its new location. Patio Furniture Home | Patio
